Your OraPath Balance Test starts with a small amount of saliva. A few simple steps make sure what the lab measures truly reflects your mouth.
Collecting your sample, step by step
Start to finish — no swab, no blood, about two minutes.

Wait 30 minutes first
For an accurate result, don't eat, drink (except plain water), brush, floss, use mouthwash, or chew gum, mints, or tobacco for 30 minutes before you collect.

Register your kit
Scan the QR code on your kit to link it to your account.

Attach the funnel
Snap the funnel onto the top of the collection tube.

Collect your saliva
Let saliva pool, then gently spit into the funnel until you reach the fill line — about two minutes.

Cap the tube
Remove the funnel and screw the cap on firmly.

Bag the sample
Seal the capped tube inside the specimen bag.

Mail it back
Place the bag in the prepaid mailer and drop it in the mail — same day if you can.

What's next
Your sample travels to our own CLIA- and COLA-accredited laboratory in Norman, Oklahoma. Each test runs on validated, real-time qPCR DNA assays, and your results post to your account about two business days after the lab receives your sample.
