For New York dental practices
Salivary periodontal testing, now available for New York patients
The Comprehensive and Essentials panels are approved by the New York State Department of Health for New York specimens.
The approval
What New York's approval means
New York reviews laboratory-developed tests itself, separately from federal CLIA certification. The state's Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program, part of the Wadsworth Center, reviewed our validation data for the Comprehensive and Essentials panels and approved both for New York specimens.
The approval covers analytical validation: whether each assay accurately and reliably measures what it reports. It is not a review of clinical utility.

Why practices use OraPath
What sits behind every result
Our own lab
Validated qPCR assays, run in our own CLIA-certified, COLA-accredited lab in Norman, Oklahoma.
Documented interpretation
Rule-based interpretation with literature references, documented and version-controlled. You can read exactly how each result is called.
Detection Level
Results are reported as Detection Level (DL). Each step up means roughly double the organism DNA.
Two readers, one report
Reports written for the clinician and for the patient, to support the conversation at the next visit.
The Oral Balance Test, our 16-organism microbiome panel, and the PerioCaries Report are not yet available for New York specimens.
FAQ
Questions from New York practices
Can I order for patients in New York?
Yes, for the Comprehensive and Essentials panels. Both are approved by the New York State Department of Health's Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program for New York specimens. The Oral Balance Test and the PerioCaries Report are not yet available for New York.
Do the results diagnose periodontal disease?
No. Results detect and quantify specific organisms and support, rather than replace, your clinical exam and judgment.
How do I verify the approval?
New York's approved-test records list IMMYLabs (PFI 6087), the CLIA-certified lab that runs OraPath testing. We're happy to send a copy of the approval letter.
What does it cost the practice to start?
